Ive got my eye on the chaintech NF4 ultra board mostly because the other ones are way overpriced. i think im going to go with this board and i was wondering if i could run patriot DDR 500 in here just plugging it in since it is for a new build i need it to work without having to change anything and i notice that its voltage rating is 2.8v heres a link to the board and the ram.

Motherboard

RAM
http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=20-220-009&depa=1

my reasoning is that the ram actually costs less than the 3200 so why not right?
btw i should be able to tweak the ram timings down to 2-3-2-? if running at 3200 speeds shouldnt I?

Thanks to anyone who helps me out on this.

when I bought my PDP, I just e-mailed them and asked if the model I was ordering was compatable, and I got my response within a few hours. Some ppl have told me that the ram companies will sometimes base this on specs and not actual testing, so I guess you take your chances, but it's worth a shot right! :) Hope your new rig (or upgrade, or whatever) turns out well! sounds like you're off to a good start.

Edit:Just to clarify, I e-mailed PDP, not asus. :D
