Not one... but TWO shows together on Broadway this year.

http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2...eckett-to-broadway-in-the-fall/?smid=fb-share

The theater and film stars Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, known for their chemistry in the “X-Men” films as the friends-turned-foes Magneto and Professor Xavier, will return to Broadway together in the fall for an unusual two-play repertory of Harold Pinter’s “No Man’s Land” and Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot,” the producers said on Thursday. Directed by a fellow Englishman, Sean Mathias, the two plays – both bleakly funny existential classics by Nobel Prize-wining writers — will run in rotation, sometimes on adjacent nights and possibly on the same days as matinee and evening performances. Such repertory schedules are fairly common in British theater but rare on Broadway; the three-play cycle of “The Norman Conquests” played in repertory in 2009 and the three parts of “Coast of Utopia” ran during the 2006-07 season, but those productions mostly featured actors sticking to the same roles.
Um, I believe I will be seeing both shows. I'll be turning tricks, if need be.

Try to get Stewart to sign a photograph of him in Borg costume outside the show. He gets PISSED when people do that.

Any particular reason? Does he hate Picard photos period, or is it just his time spent as a Borg?

Stewart out and out refuses to sign any picture of him in ST attire.

:(
Clarification: at Broadway shows and other plays. When he's stage acting he likes to be recognized for that, not for ST. If you want a signed ST picture, go to a convention.

"Waiting for Godot?" Really? Ok. I guess could have fun with that.

It's a great play, and standard rep for a lot of fine actors on Broadway. I saw it a few years ago with John Goodman and Nathan Lane and really enjoyed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waiting_for_Godot#Production_history

In 1978, a production was staged by Walter Asmus at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City with Sam Waterston as Vladimir, Austin Pendleton as Estragon, Milo O'Shea as Lucky and Michael Egan as Pozzo.

The Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center was the site of a 1988 revival directed by Mike Nichols, featuring Robin Williams (Estragon), Steve Martin (Vladimir), Bill Irwin (Lucky), and F. Murray Abraham (Pozzo). With a limited run of seven weeks and an all-star cast, it was financially successful[110] but the critical reception was not particularly favourable, with Frank Rich of The New York Times writing, "Audiences will still be waiting for a transcendent Godot long after the clowns at Lincoln Center, like so many others passing through Beckett's eternal universe before them, have come and gone."[111]

The play was revived in London's West End at the Queen's Theatre in a production directed by Les Blair, which opened on 30 September 1991.[112] This was the first West End revival since the play's British première. Rik Mayall played Vladimir and Adrian Edmondson played Estragon, with Philip Jackson as Pozzo and Christopher Ryan as Lucky; the boy was played by Dean Gaffney and Duncan Thornley.[112] Derek Jarman provided the scenic design, in collaboration with Madeleine Morris.[112]

Another production in the West End, at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, opened on 30 April 2009. Sir Ian McKellen played Estragon and Sir Patrick Stewart played Vladimir. Their performances garnered critical acclaim, and were the subject of an eight-part documentary series called Theatreland, which was produced by Sky Arts.[113] The Daily Telegraph reported that Patrick Stewart saw the ghost of John Baldwin Buckstone standing in the wings during a performance at the Haymarket.[114] The production was revived at the same theatre in January 2010 for 11 weeks. In 2010, this same production toured internationally, with Roger Rees replacing Stewart as Vladimir.

A 2009 Broadway revival of the play, starring Nathan Lane and Bill Irwin, was nominated for three Tony Awards: Best Revival of a Play, Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play (John Glover), and Best Costume Design of a Play (Jane Greenwood).[115] It received rave reviews, and was a huge success for the Roundabout Theatre. Variety called it a "transcendent" production.

For the Stratford Shakespeare Festival's 60th Anniversary season in 2013, Jennifer Tarver will be directing a new production starring Brian Dennehy as "Pozzo", to be performed at the Tom Patterson Theatre.

At first, I thought you meant he will get pissed if you show up outside of the show dressed up as a borg and ask him for an autograph!

I've always wondered about those two.

You'd be right to wonder. Everyone knows Ian is gay, but Patrick is in the closet?

In any case, when I saw Patrick Stewart hug Ben Kingsley from the back with his arms wrapped around his crotch area and Ben caressing his arms, I thought, WTF?! That was more than a bromance hug. I made up my mind he was either bi or gay. You can only go so far with British effeminateness.

The pic below between these two isn't as telling as that other pic that I can't find from a quick Google search.

It'd be hilarious if true that the two had a relationship. It would be like fucking yourself in real life.
