This is much much much worse than I thought. My mom's a RN here in Toronto and she just called to say that they've been told to evacuate as many patients who can go home as possible as they are expected an influx of trauma cases from New York. If you can get out and donate blood please do.

<< ONTARIO HAS COMMITTED TO PROVIDE ALL ASSISTANCE POSSIBLE TO THE UNITED STATES IN THIS EMERGENCY. IT IS LIKELY MANY HOSPITALS IN ONTARIO WILL BE ASKED TO ACCEPT PATIENTS >>

I'm proud to be an American ally today. You've helped us out in the past and now it's time for us to help out a bit - it's just unfortunate that the circumstances are the way they are. I'll be in to donate blood tomorrow.

Confirmed here

GL - is there any way/place for trained First Aid people to help out (here in Toronto ?)

I'm a lifeguard (well, i stopped working as one, but I am still certified) & would definitely be willing to help out. Please advise if possible.

Canadians, that is a truly moving and inspiring thread. Thank you for your support, and I hope we will be able to return it somehow. This is a very scary time for most Americans. I want to donate blood also, but I don't know where. Does anybody have a suggestion?

my dad went to give blood as soon as he heard about the trade Center collapse. I would have gone too, but I'm not allowed to give blood (medical reasons).

There were linups at the blood donation clinic, people were waiting up to 2 hours to give their blood!

what saddens me most is that everyone assumes they know who did this. talk about racism. no-wonder incidents like this occur, it's just sad that people don't see what causes them.
