Lots of talk now of workplaces implementing vaccine mandates, including hospitals.

Double-edged and very sharp sword, and not looking to debate that now.

My question is, if someone were to end up in the hospital for something NOT related to COVID, from an accident or illness to routine surgery, do they have the right to refuse treatment or services from a non-vaccinated staff. Assuming you are in your room and someone, from nurse to cleaning staff, come to your room for a legitimate purpose. Can the patient demand to know if that person is vaccinated, and if not ask them to leave immediately?

I just had the misfortune of spending a few days in hospital three weeks ago thanks to a stroke. every time I interacted with someone that was on my mind. Each time they wheeled me off for another scan or test it was a concern.a I do feel someone should be free to decline service from someone in the circumstance.

Breakthrough cases are increasingly common. And they are infectious.
So it hardly makes a difference if the person is vaccinated.
More to the point, shouldn't you be?

If you are, then who the !@#$ cares?
If you are not - then its your own damn fault.

Moreover, vaccine mandates are increasingly common. Especially among hospital staff. Heck, I know of a Meijer's bakery that required it of their staff. My point is your scenario sounds more hypothetical than realistic.

Patients can ask for different staff. Hospitals don't have to acquiesce and generally don't.

Basically hospital staffing is generally razor thin without a lot of redundancy. For example, on a hospital floor there may be only 1 or 2 nurses trained to manage cardiac patients or orthopedic patient or a continuous infusion pain pump and etc. If everyone asked for different nurses hospital staffing models would collapse immediately so generally they don't honor patient request for different staff.
