I was excited for PoE way back when but when I finally got around to playing it a year or two ago I just couldn't get into it. I realized I don't find the realtime combat fun at all (yes I know you can pause). It's clunky and tedious and tends to devolve to balling up. High hopes for BG3.
The Kingmaker devs are adding a turn based mode in August, though there is an unofficial mod that does the same thing. The great thing is that both allow you turn TB on or off with just a button press. So for trash fights that your party will steam roll you can keep it off. For fights where you need to be tactical just turn it on.

I hope they do some work patching the game, because it still has hella bugs.

Here is why it is never worth buying a game at launch. This game is 2 years old now and is still isn't really complete. I intend to get this game, but I am aiming at $10 for the game and all DLC. I imagine I'll play it sometime next year, and it will by then be feature complete and patched.

In the meantime I have had no lack of games to play.

It's a fun game, I bought it again about a year after release and enjoyed it. It's not on the same level as the "greats" of the genre but it's definitely more good than bad.
