I'm here to humbly request that you sign one of the petitions linked below. I don't wish to begin a politcal conversation, I just want to properly honor all those that have been sacrificed on our path to freedom.
We are now just a few days from the five year anniversary of September 11th. I'm sure we can all remember where we were when we heard what happened that day. I myself was still in high school, and can remember when the curtain of blissful ignorance of the state of our world was ripped asunder. For nearly half a century we had lived in peace, but now in one act of terrorism the course of our nation was forever changed.
On that day, 2,996 lives were taken from us in an act of hate and ignorance. Nothing can ever bring them back to us, nor repair the scars in the fabric of our society. All we can hope to do is honor and remember their sacrifices.
Five years later, we find ourselves in a tumultuous time. Wars have been raging nonstop over almost all regions of the world, while poverty and hunger rip apart most of the rest.
But on monday we must stop, and remember what happened five years ago. We must honor those 2996 lives with respect and reverence. With this in mind, I ask you to help me make sure they are honored properly.
There are elements in our soceity which wish to use their sacrifice for their own gain. Without even acknowledging who these elements are, it should obvious this is an outrage and a desecretion to the honor of the victims and their families.
The feature ABC has planned to commemorate these events is called "The Path to 9/11." It was meant to follow the 9/11 commission report, but somehow got twisted along the way. Almost all those asked for input to the feature, including an FBI agent brought in for consultation, left the production claiming it "they were making things up." The producer of the feature even admitted that a key scene showing Clinton refusing to allow the CIA to assassinate Bin Laden is "improvised."
Even more alarming, ABC has hired Scholastic Inc to put "Path to 9/11" in all our school's classrooms, offering free tapes and study aides. Our children are our future, and we owe it to them to make sure they know the truth.
It is an OUTRAGE for anyone to use the victims sacrifices for political gain. We must all do what we can to make sure that the victims of those atrocious events are honored properly.
