Patchy:the newest great video game

spaceman

ok so brainstorming here.
the game is called Patchy.
the goal of the game is as you progress you get bugs fixed.
like when you 1st install it you get clipping, artifacts, and it runs like a slideshow and sounds like a ham radio.
as you progress in the game you get patches that improve everything from dialogue to textures/framerate and so on.

i suppose it could be an adventure game.
maybe the 1st act has you diving into a sewer..the reward? +5fps or >8 bit textures.

it can work.

think about.
at 1st all you can do is launch it.
no configuration settings.
maybe some keymapping missing.
move sideways the entire level until you find the w key that allows you to move forward.
same with jump key etc.

This sounds like the Jump to Conclusions Mat to me.

And that's some damn good weed you got there.

Edit: After thinking about it a bit more, I think I see what you're after. IMO the terrible FPS and artifacting are bad ideas, but getting more ways to move around can make an old level interesting again. Once you can jump, you can explore the whole level again to find new things, for example.

could work - especially if the new "patches" reveal new content integral to the game's plot.

of course!
without the jump key, you couldnt progress.
and with awful clipping etc...you didnt see that doorway to "level 2"
