patch panel question

i never really had to play with patch panels and cabling work to data jacks, so im not sure about how they are labeled.

ok, the patch panel has two rows of 10baseT ports, both rows number the ports like so

1 2 3 4 5 6 .... and so on

the ethernet jacks throughout the office are numbered like so D01.01.01, D01.01.02, D01.01.03 ...
and D02.01.01, D02.01.02 and so on. (the numbers might be off a bit, i am not in the office looking at them right now...)

my question is this, what ports on the patch panel go to which jacks?? i would normally use a signal toner to figure it out but none seem to be available at the moment and i dont want to go out and buy one just to rewire a single jack.

can anyone give me some suggestions??

Thanks alot!

well u could try matching 1 to .01, 2 to .02 etc.. thats the logical solution

otherwise trial and error until u notice the pattern

One hint - Try to find a live PC that's plugged into a jack that's pretty close to it. With a friend, unplug and plug in that PC several times until you identify which port on the hub is blinking, then follow that cable back the patch panel port. That should help you get close.
