I am trying to make a custom 25' cable to run from my Fujitsu/Orckit Speedpath DSL modem to my NIC and have run into some issues.. mainly that I can't get it to work! The ONLY cable that seems to work is the one that came w/ the modem, which the manual indicates is a crossover cable. SO I have crimped/recrimped about 5 times to no avail. In my research (and on some other sites) I have come to the conclusion that
White/Green 1 White/Orange
Green 2 Orange
White/Orange 3 White/Green
Blue 4 Blue
White/Blue 5 White/Blue
Orange 6 Green
White/Brown 7 White/Brown
Brown 8 Brown
should be the correct way to make the cable. And as such is the way I have been trying. I feel confident in my ability to make a freaking cable (made all my own for my lan save for the crossover from Fujitsu for the modem) so I believe it is more in the way the premade cable is wired. Anyone else had this situation? Am I crazy, do I have bad info? Their manual indicates it's a crossover cable.. I am unable to see the wires inside the jack to determine the order of their wiring.. I am planning to procure a meter to test continuity on the cable, but it was an unused molded cable I cut the ends off of, so I'm pretty confident that the cable itself is ok.. Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.. Bob
