PATA drive in system with SATA?

Hork

I recently got in on the CompUSA deal where I got a Compaq Presario SR1010Z configured to order for $150 after rebates. I ordered it with a small 40GB drive since I have a big drive at home waiting to be used.

When the machine came, the 40GB drive is a SATA drive. My big drive I want to add is a PATA 160 GB Hitachi Deskstar.

Here is the mobo in the Compaq:

Can I still put the Deskstar drive in this machine, or are those IDE connectors mainly just for CD and DVD drives? If I read this right, I would only be able to go to 100 and not 133?

You can use the IDE drive just fine. Sure you'll be "limited" to 100, but the hard drive can't actualy use the full 133 anyway..it's pretty much a marketing gimick..so you won't be loosing any speed.
