Conservative Christian televangelist Pat Robertson told citizens of a Pennsylvania town that they had rejected God by voting their school board out of office for supporting "intelligent design" and warned them on Thursday not to be surprised if disaster struck.
"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city," Robertson said
"And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there," he said.

I humbly suggest that Pat Robertsons God is not the God of my understanding.

1988 presidential bid
In September 1986, Robertson announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States. Robertson said he would only pursue the nomination if three million people signed up to volunteer for his campaign by September 1987. Three million responded, and by the time Robertson announced he'd be running in September 1987, he also had millions of dollars in his campaign fund.

Excuse me, it is the Republicans that follow Robertson, notice it says:
Conservative Christian televangelist Pat Robertson

Please keep your ilk on your side straight. Thank you.

Ugh, my point was that there are kooks on both the left and the right that do not deserve any more attention than they already have. I am fully aware that Robertson is a conservative and appeals to that segment of the populace. Thanks for reminding me though, Mr. Master of the Obvious......

Assuming the god of his beliefs exists, at all, someone should warn Pat Robertson about the same thing.

This is the same guy that advocated assassination... He's an absolute lunatic. I'd probably believe Bush before I'd believe Robertson... and with Bush it's a lie a minute. I actually sent an e-mail to the show saying how much crap it was, and I got a response saying G-d would 'strike me down.' These people are insane; only idiots would believe them.

Bah. He'll just go on national television and claim God needs him to raise some outrageous sum of money or "he'll be taken home". And at the last minute, one of his minions will make up any shortfall. Just like his buddy from Tulsa, Oral Roberts.

Makes you wonder what the hardcore evangelical stronghold of Florida's Pan Handle did to warrant Hurricane Ivan in the eyes of his god?

Every couple of months this sh!thead feels the need to spew closeminded crap like this, I'm getting used to it, I just wish he didn't enjoy such a cozy relationship with Bush because then it would be so easy to ignore him! :(

pat robertson needs to be drug out into the backstreets in rwanda so he can do some real missionary work, instead of his usual bs. his god has abandoned him also, and he needs to watch out for the real one.

And if there is NOT a disaster in Dover, we can take it from Pat that God completely AGREES with Dover's decision to ride those school-board religious fanatics out of town on a rail. Furthermore, since the non-disaster will signal God's obvious approval of Dover's vote, Pat will be at the forefront of the Christian right's rejection of ID.

He appears to have some interesting audiences.
Robertson related the conversation during an interview with CNN late Tuesday. He said he spoke to Bush before the invasion of Iraq in March 2003 and urged him to prepare the nation for heavy casualties. While Bush's response was a mistake, Robertson said, God has blessed the president anyhow.
---
White House political adviser Karl Rove told reporters that Bush never said he did not expect casualties. "I was right there," Rove said of the president's conversation with Robertson.
Granted, I agree with your assertion that no one of consequence (intelligence, morality) listens to Pat Roberts.
