Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson prayed on his Christian Broadcasting Network, based in Virginia Beach, that Isabel would turn from the coast. He asked God to put a "wall of protection" around Virginia Beach and the East Coast.

"In the name of Jesus, we reach out our hand in faith and we command that storm to cease its forward motion to the north and to turn and to go out into the sea," Robertson prayed on "The 700 Club."

Next he's going to cast 'resurrect' on the 9/11 victims and 'power word kill' on osama bin laden! :p

I have actually seen him claim on TV that his prayers at the Cape Henry Lighthouse have saved the Hampton Roads area from hurricanes for the past several decades. We in the Hampton Roads area should be very thankful eh?

I can't believe he actually believes this crap.

Phokus, there's a reason you have the distinction of being the only person on my ignore list - You're a troll, always have been.

How about not equating prayer with having "magic powers"... thanks. If he wants to pray, fine, that's his business. You want to make fun of Pat Robertson? Be my guest... he is very extreme in many cases. But please, don't cheapen prayer by calling it "crap" and "magic powers" just because of your opinions of Pat Robertson.

I wonder it has occured to Pat that Isabel might actually be God's Wrath coming to wipe him off the face of the earth so we don't have to listen to his drivel any more. :p

"Command"ing a storm to "cease it's forward motion" is not prayer. It's a god complex

That's pretty much my feelings. I don't care for Pat Robertson, but this thread is completely uncalled for.

Pat does this with every storm. And the thing is, odds are in his favor because Virginia Beach is a geographically protected area. Most storms headed in it's direction either slam into the North Carolina shore, or by pass VB and head towards NY. Look at a map and realize that most hurricanes that hit the mid to north Atlantic coast come from a direction that makes it nearly impossible for them to hit VB directly.

LOOK at the guy's "prayer." He think's he's Moses and he's going to "command" storms to do his bidding. Just like he prayed for a fire or storm to wipe out Orlando because of a gay festival.

Like I said, I don't care for Pat Robertson. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if a "fire or storm" consumed him. I think he's a fraud, & a disgrace to Christians everywhere.

Doesn't excuse this thread though.

Right...because..."we command that storm" is a completely natural phenomena, and if "we command that storm" has a direct effect upon the motion of the storm, this would certainly not be "magic powers," but an everyday, ordinary thing. Right?
