VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia (AP) -- Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson urged his nationwide audience Monday to pray for God to remove three justices from the Supreme Court so they could be replaced by conservatives.

"We ask for miracles in regard to the Supreme Court," Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "The 700 Club."

Robertson has launched a 21-day "prayer offensive" directed at the Supreme Court in the wake of its 6-3 June vote that decriminalized sodomy. Robertson said in a letter on the CBN Web site that the ruling "has opened the door to homosexual marriage, bigamy, legalized prostitution and even incest."

The same letter targets three justices in particular: "One justice is 83-years-old, another has cancer and another has a heart condition. Would it not be possible for God to put it in the minds of these three judges that the time has come to retire?"

Judging from the descriptions, Robertson was referring to Justice John Paul Stevens, who was born in 1920, and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who had colon cancer surgery in 1999. The identity of the third justice was unclear.

If you look at the picture of pat...it's pretty funny...his face reminds me of this: >_<

I think HE needs to retire from being an idiot. Of course, that will never happen.

Why hasn't god struck this bastard down with a bolt of lightning or something for trying to speak on his behalf?

"Opened the door to homosexual marriage, bigamy, legalized prostitution and even incest?" As if people weren't already doing these things anyway. Pat Robertson needs to retire from being a dumbass.

There aren't many people who take him seriously anymore. If he's not careful, he'll turn into another agenda whore like Sharpton.

No, but now it's legal. If it's legal, it would soon become socially acceptable. That's what he's trying to prevent. Pat Robertson believes that the government is the all-seeing-eye and that if they say that it's okay to do, that people will change their moral/ethical standards because of it.

That's my major problem with him. He doesn't see that people can set their own moral/ethical standards and it doesn't matter what he says about it (unless you're a mindless sheep like many Christians today, unfortunately).

You're right! This is a great reason. Perhaps if you could have it your way the government would stifle his freedom of thought and expression.

When last I checked, prayer was not a sin. Prayer is abstract, is not it? (And if there really isn't a Supreme Being then he's praying to nothing.) That's freedom of thought there. Then freedom of expression sharing it with his members. I don't see why you would want to stifle his freedom to think and express himself (no matter how stupid you think it is), so long as he isn't infringing upon your rights.

Well... I don't think you can retire from a mindset that you've had for 10935198032740985029834 years (which about the age that he looks like he is). He just needs to be taken out of the national broadcasting circuit. He's giving Christians a bad name to those who can't help but stereotype Christians in with Pat Robertson.

He has every right to pray for Pat Robertson to rot in hell as Pat Robertson does to pray for the justices' retirement.

Nobody is stifling freedom here. All they were saying is that (1) they want him to go to hell and (2) the government and church should not be mixed. How is that taking away free speech?

Heh, poor phrasing on my part.
