Looks like another "Staunch Christian who is being caught with his own hypocrisy" thread to me. It more like the Christian values people who are bashing the others with their beliefs when they themselves don't follow them.

Ever heard of 'practice what your preach'?

So I'm assuming you have pleanty of examples of this pastor "bashing others" for the very things he has done? Why don't you go ahead and start proving your ignorant statement with some quotes or proof. Otherwise, you are just trolling.

Even if that were the case I'll bet the Democrats would be too afraid to do it. I have little doubt that Rove knows where a sh!tload of political bodies are buried on both sides of the aisle.

Are you freaking kidding me?! Haggard and Bush linked themselves via his weekly conference calls and meetings with the White House. No, this doesn't mean Bush is gay too, but denying that Haggard and Bush & his Administration are linked makes you the world's biggest delusional.

And Haggard's actions, should they turn out to be true, only serves to demonstrate how hypocritical (and corrupt - but that's another discussion) the GOP and the evangelical leaders really are. You just don't see self-hating gay hypocrites of this calibre like Haggard and Foley on the other side of the aisle.

Hypocritical evangelicals.....the gift that keeps on giving. Only this election cycle, they stopped giving to the Repubs and are giving back to the Dems. Thank you Teddy for helping the news media forget all about Kerry's inability to serve up a joke.

This has helped essentially kill the Kerry story before it even made it to weekend and has brought focus back to real issues like equal rights for all citizens.

Actually Haggard isn't as anti-gay as he may seem, he plays good cop to James Dobson's bad cop. Although from what I've read, he does seem to think that homosexuality is caused by demons.

Apparently, the guy he "contracted" was found from either a newspaper ad or from the website, rentboy.com, haha classic.

Almost as funny as hotmilitarystud.com from the Gannon days.

I would think that believing homosexuality is caused by demons can be classified as "anti-gay". Demons are bad, mmmmkay?

I wonder if the "Professor" will be stopping back in? ;)

As a gay male myself, I have found that the most rabid homophobes are gay and will not admit it. I have *seen* it over and over again and in fact have been subjected to it where it led to me walking away from a $60,000 a year job--a manager that was obviously gay and a "baby boomer" generation type who hated the fact that I was out of the closet and he was stuck in a heterosexual lie (marriage with kids). Did not stop him from repeatedly hitting on me, though. Sick fat old $astard--I have my standards! The worst discriminators against gays are other highly closeted gays. This situation with the pastor is hardly a surprise.

630 KHOW played the voicemails that Pastor Ted left on for the male prostitutes cell phone. I caught one of them as i was stepping out of the shower and it sounded just like Pastor Ted and he was asking the Pro if he can score him 200 bucks worth of meth.

pretty damning if you ask me.

however the Pro took a lie detector test yesterday but failed it. the testor said the results showed "deception"

Pastor Ted does have 5 kids and a wife, i feel very very sorry for them right now. i cant imagine what they are going through.

Nothing worse than people shoving ethics down your throat when they cannot live by those same ethics.

I feel bad for the wife and kids though.

I wonder how long it will take for him to sign himself into a clinic? LOL

In these situations, I also feel very sorry for the wife and kids. I, however, blame the situation where gay males are locked into lies like this on our puritanical and homophobic society. I have met other gay males who did decide to stop living a lie and come out and divorce their wives and get a boyfriend. One such guy I know was in his mid-50's and had four kids and one day simply figured he could no longer continue....he did wait until the kids all left home first, though...which I have to give him credit for.

I just surprised he hasn't blamed alcohol yet, but I guess meth could prove to be a good substitute.

The problem I see with this is that he makes his living preaching against the way he lives his life and has built up millions of dollars in assets essentially bamboozling people. There are supposedly 30 million people that are linked to his church in one way or another, that's 1/10 of Americans, pretty scary if you ask me. These people flop around on the ground for crying out loud.

This reminds me of a book by Chuck Palahnick called Survivor.

And succeeding. For example, there's this from the < ahem > "reverand's" own site:
LIKE MANY PASTORS, the Rev. Ted Haggard has a packed schedule, including four worship services on Sunday, counseling sessions with church members, and radio commercials promoting the Scriptures. But in his Palm Pilot, next to an electronic copy of the Bible, Mr. Haggard has one Monday appointment that stands out: "3 p.m.: White House." It's a weekly conference call Mr. Haggard dials into that's led by Tim Goeglein, the White House's liaison to the conservative community, and includes prominent religious leaders. "We have direct access," says Mr. Haggard, senior pastor of the giant New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colo. "I can call [Mr. Goeglein], he'll take my concern to the president and get back to me in 24 hours."
.
.
Mr. Haggard is also trying to boost evangelical voter participation. On Sept. 19, he will co-host a two-hour broadcast encouraging viewers to make it to the polls and to call their congressional representatives in support of the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would ban same-sex marriages.
You want linkage? I got yer linkage right heah!

This wouldn't be so damned funny if the guy wasn't carrying such a high public profile, pushing the ultra-fundie gay bashing agenda in the political arena while, at the same time, he was sneaking out on the down low to snort speed with a gay hooker. Can you say HYPOCRITE, boys and girls?

I want a bumper sticker that says, "FUN-duh-MENTAL-ists are NEITHER!"

Bwahahahahahahaha

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahah

This is to funny. Here's another link for you: Church leaders say allegations have 'some truth'

An associate pastor at New Life Church said this morning that there's "some truth" to allegations made this week against the Rev. Ted Haggard, founder and senior pastor of the 14,000-member church.

A Denver man on Wednesday alleged that he was paid for sex during a three-year relationship with Haggard and that he saw Haggard use methamphetamine.

?It?s not entirely false," the Rev. Rob Brendle, associate pastor of New Life, said of the allegations. "We don?t know the extent of the truth of them.?

I'm from Colorado Springs, and I'm so sick of the evangelicals, particularly this group and Focus on the Family. The homophobia and intolerance they foster in this town is incredible. The irony is just delicious.

Speaking of Focus on the Family, anybody remember this bit from a few years ago? Ex-Gay Leader Disciplined for Gay Bar Visit

The board of directors for Seattle-based Exodus North America voted Oct. 3 to remove John Paulk as board chairman but to retain him as a board member on "probationary" status. The decision follows media reports that Paulk was photographed visiting a gay bar in Washington, D.C. on the evening of Sept. 19.

Exodus International is a Christian organization that encourages homosexuals to leave the gay lifestyle. Paulk, who works for Focus on the Family, is the ex-gay movement's most visible leader. While he is on probation, Paulk will not attend board meetings or have voting privileges.

I say, let the pastor moo. :D

Lie detector tests are worthless in general, and even more so in highly emotionally charged situations.

that sh*t pisses me off. the fastest way to make a born-again to STFU when they start throwing Leviticus quotes out is to throw a few back at them, like.

Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him

and of course my favorite quote from leviticus: NO MORE SURF & TURF FOR YOU!!!!

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
3: Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.
4: Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
5: And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
6: And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
7: And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.
8: Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.
9: These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10: And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12: Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
