I am going to buy a Taisol cgk760. I am wondering if paste(as2) will give me that much cooler temps over the thermal pad it has on it? 1c or 2c cooler does not seem significant enough to me to spend the extra $$. If there is a more noticeable difference I would be much more interested. What do you guys think?

Using Artic Silver 2 will lower your overall temps than a thermal pad.

Depends on what kind of pad it is. I know that the thermoengine's pad wasn't the cheap sticky paste that a lot of hs's use, it's a special pad that responds to the temp of the cpu. The test that I saw concerning it tested it with the pad, then removed it and used a quality thermo paste ( the lapped the hs first). No change in the temp. Like I said, check it out first.
