I work at a small computer store, I have a dell inspiron 5720 laptop I bought to refurbish to resell, when turned on it would say to enter password. I put a new hard drive in but cannot go past the put password in screen. Of course since it has been tried several times now it is a screen password/unlock key and under that it has unlock key hint number and has a number listed. cannot get past this screen to get to bios to reset anything, even with HD and CMOS removed I get same thing. Can anyone give any pointers on how I can get to the bios?

Apologies, but we don't allow asking for methods of getting around passwords on locked systems. In the past, we've had kids who stole school computers trying to get into them. Too many illegitimate reasons for needing to get past such passwords. -Admin DrPizza

Sounds like BIOS password, which if there is TPM or trusted computing feature in hardware, good luck getting around that. If it were Secure ATA disk password, you wouldn't see it after installing a different disk drive.
