Password Dialog Box

I just restored a Gateway machine for a friend and I want to keep the password dialog box from coming up on every reboot. I have a NIC card in now but I will be removing it (it's only in to use my broadband connection) when I give it back to her. Will the dialog box go away after the NIC is removed? And if not, how do I make it go away? It's running Win 98 SE. I know I did this in the past, but can't recall how.

There is an option under Network Neighborhood (is that the name? I havent used 98 in a bit) for something like "log onto network..."

I sometimes got it to work, but I usually end up using TweakUI instead and have it auto logon for me..

Well its a setting in the network settings. I don't have a windows 98 machine up over here but if you right click on network neighborhood and go to properties a dialogbox will come up. In there you can select what to use to login with. You need to select the correct one.

I wish I had it here, I just can't think of your options. On the network computers at work I set them up so you don't have to logon. But if you have more than one user account you have to do it the way dbwillis said.

Right-click on Network Neighborhood
Choose Properties
Under "Primary Network Logon" change it to Windows Logon.
Done 🙂 🙂 🙂
