Password Cracking Software

Does anybody know of any software out there that can guess passwords continuously and rapidly? I think they?re called ?password hurlers?. I use encryption software on my computer and would like to play around with trying to crack some of the passwords that protect the encrypted volumes on my drive. It would need to be software that?s able to guess various password combinations multiple times quickly. I don't even know if such software exists publicly but I thought I would ask here to start.

I'm not a hacker and I'm not trying to break into anybody's computer. I just have an interest in security and encryption and want to see how good my software is.

Thanks.

Asking for advice on cracking software is not likely to be well-received, FYI, even if you say your intentions are pure.

Especially in the General Hardware forum.

Sorry, guys...wrong forum and perhaps the wrong website. I'll try SourceForge though.

Thanks.

Lol yeah, try one of those hacker websites. You try to figure out how to hack while the forums hack you computer at the same time . Seriously, ive never seen as much virus, spyware, and hack crap as the junk on hacker forums. Just let it be or ask someone at a college that youll pay him $100 to make a program that will do that.

I know...I actually wanted to avoid those sites because I know they're filled with all kinds of dangerous stuff like you mentioned above. But I've got a router and a software firewall, so maybe I'll risk a few visits. The encryption software I use is very good (PGP) so I might just let it be like you said.

There's a company called "Elcomsoft" that makes programs like this I think. You might want to check them out.
