I put in my app on 3/9 and didn't pay the expediting fee. I'm hoping I'll be alright.

I need it by 5/1 - do you think I'll have it by then?

Our turn around right now is very fast. So don;t worry you should have it back in plenty of time if there are no errors or red flags if you sent it in at least 6-8 weeks before needed. if 1 month or less then pay the extra fee to be safe.

I'm hoping so - like I said, I applied at the local PO on 3/9. Looking over my app, I didn't put my departure date on the application. Is that a huge deal?

You'll have it. I wouldn't worry about it. I think I filed for mine...4 weeks before I needed it, and didn't pay to expedite it. Got it within 2 weeks or so.

Well, it's been 3 weeks this past Monday and no dice. The passport agency is bar none the hardest group of people I've ever tried to get a hold of. They're phone system literally tells you,

"Sorry, we have too many calls right now. Try again later. Bye bye."

AND their website "email us" form is broken. Swell.

Maybe they want you to stay here and spend your money in America.

Um, three weeks will be in 4 days. You are just barely past the 2 week mark.

My financee put in a renewal back in Jan or Feb. She got hers back in a couple of weeks. I imagine the turnaround time is faster right now since far fewer people are travelling internationally.

You know - it really is. I just want to get everything squared away and ready to go. I have a sweet gig on a boat and I don't want to screw anything up.

Give it until next Saturday(April 4th). If you don't have it by then and still can't get in contact with the office that has your application send em a PM and I will look into for you.

I guess I was counting it wrong - do they not include the first week you turn it in?

If you turned it into the PO then it takes a couple days to get to the Pasport Office and then it has to be sorted. So that can take extra time, maybe a week more then going to the passport office.

a bit off topic
I've been going to the post office lately because I sold bunch of stuff on ebay and every single time someone is there about a passport.
Is there an expiring law or something? Seems like there's a flood to get passports. Strange.

Ah ha. I see - so what are average times like lately? Minus the week to get my app to where it needs to go.

It depends on the office it went to. I don;t see those numbers as its not part of my job per say. But most are at or below 4 week turn around once the office gets it.

Nope, in fact passports have slowed down quite a bit after last years rush. But the PO is the only place to turn a PP app into in most areas and the PO only allows them at certain times.

I am, yes.

I know this is all a little pre-mature. I'm just nervous about getting it in time.
