passport photos

Depends on the quality of your printer.

I had them reject me before because it was too obviously a homemade print. But my Epson 890 gave me nearly photo-quality pix which were accepted w/o problem
 
You could and they would not know the difference. Just make sure it's not watermarked Epson in the back. I've got a few European chicquita friends that did just that and it worked fine.
 
You can print your own, you just have to have 2 identical photos, they have to be the correct size, and your image has to take up a certain amount of space in the frame.
 
I think they're pretty picky about the background and the size (as was mentioned).

I went to walgreens and they took mine for me.

as long as it fits their requirements

i took the pics for my mom and dad when they got their passports renewed, took them with my D70 printed them on a Canon i860, it was fine

then just need to be 1x1.5 inches IIRC and have aa white background, face uncovered and all that


or go pay the 10$ most places charge you for them

I dont know about the no part but get them taken for you, its like 5 bucks and they cut the pictures in the correct size so you can follow the instructions in the passport sheet.

I had to pose that way (like my avatar) for my green card, but my passport photo was a "front-and-center" looking pose. Although, that was for my Canadian passport. Don't have a US one yet, though I am eligible this year.

I only know something about danish passports and there you have to pose as your avatar 😛

Go to a pharmacy with a photo section and a kodak picturemaker. CVS has them. They 4x6 prints are $.89 where I work, and you can fit 6 passport size photos on them.
