passively cooling a Linksys EG008W

I have an Eg008w gigabit hub on my home network. it's fan wasn't bad when I got it, but it seems to be going downhill and getting louder. I'm wondering what that fan is cooling and if there is a way I could put a better fan on it or passively cool it somehow. I'd like to know what i'm getting into before ripping it apart.

another interesting problem I've run into concerns my T41p and my fileserver. When I restart the FS, it takes a couple tries for my other computers to "see" the shared drives from it, but they pick it up pretty quickly. My t41 appears to be unable to after the most recent restart..I've tried mapping the drives, browseing the network, searched for computer, wireless and wired, the ip address as well as the computer name - and all computers are in the same workgroup. As far as I know, the firewall/windows settings are identical to the computers which can see the drives. any ideas?

thanks,
~dubb
