HOUSTON ? Texas officials are crediting "The Passion of the Christ" (search) with helping to solve a crime.

A Houston detective says a man who saw the movie and then talked to a spiritual adviser has confessed to murdering a woman. A coroner had ruled the pregnant woman's death by hanging a suicide.

The woman's body was found in her apartment southwest of Houston in January. The detective says all physical evidence pointed to suicide.

He says the perpetrator "was very, very meticulous," wearing gloves and leaving none of his own DNA behind. Officials say the pregnancy appears to be the motive -- with the perpetrator believing he was the father.

The detective says suspect Dan Leach apparently felt that "to have redemption he would have to confess his sin and do his time." The 21-year-old faces up to life in prison if convicted.

Interesting.

how is one to take that? is he a moron for confessing when he could have gotten away? or for actually commiting the crime?

on first glance at your response I felt you meant the former, that he was a moron for being compelled to confess...if that is the case then I hope people like you get hit by a bus :)....if it is the latter then I think you should clarify

Yes. Not saying it's bad that he is a moron. But to go through all that work to cover his tracks only to come unglued because of a cheesy movie, is not a sign of high intelligence.

Yeah........ not high intelligence......... just a higher power;)

The power of the cross is AMAZING...........

Go ahead and flame away........ its OK its expected.

Remember 1st Corinthians 1:18:

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it IS THE POWER OF GOD

Thanks to people like supertool our precious scriptures live on in truth :)

wouldn't one automatically come to said conclusion based on the reasoning for the murder? (pregnancy)....so basically you are calling him a moron because he got an emotional charge from the movie and decided to confess his sin, you would have prefered that he calculated this murder, performed it and then basked in his glory knowing full well that he "fooled" the law...by chance are you an atheist?

thx

I am more of a sceptical agnostic :D
He is a moron because he killed her thinking he would keep it a secret, only to come unglued because of a movie. Loose lips sink ships.
