Ron Santo, a legendary Cubs player and radio broadcaster, died Thursday night in Arizona, reportedly due to complications from bladder cancer. He was 70.
Santo lapsed into a coma on Wednesday night before passing away on Thursday, the Chicago Tribune reported.

...

This is a very sad day... summer will never sound the same. Ron will be remembered not just for his career as a player, but for his tremendous spirit in the face of his personal health problems, his passion for the Cubs, and his outstanding contribution to diabetes research through JDRF.

To quote Steve Goodman,

He's got season tickets to watch the Angels now, so that's just what he's gonna do.

But we the living, we're stuck here with the Cubs. So it's he who feels sorry for you.

I have no problem adding my own RIP to what I assume will be virtually uncontested list of other posters.

Ron Santo's life made the world a better place.
