Passing all tests, but windows hangs

i'm running some memory testing on my 1gb Dimm of Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800

configuration:
stock Q6600 speeds 2.4ghz = 266 x 9 @ 1.328 in CPU-Z
Ram 266mhz 5-5-5-18 @ 2.15vRam

Testing:
12 hours Memtest86+ v2.00 = PASS
20 mins HCI Memtest 600% = PASS
1 hour OCCT Auto = PASS
P95 Blend = Windows hangs after 3-4 hours, but p95 doesnt show any rounding errors at the point right before hanging (est 3-4 hours of test-time)

what can be the cause of this? i'm already running pretty high voltages, ram seems to not be "DOA" since it passes all of those tests (well it *can*), could it be my MB DIMM slot?

Just wondering, do you have a spare hd that you could load a fresh install of windows? FTHat might rule out the possibility of it being a bad program installed, drivers, etc.

EDIT: What about safe mode? Do you have problems with things in safe mode as well?

does windows hang by it self with out running prime blend???

have you tried changing ram slots as you already suggested yourself?

if windows hangs solo then definitely looking into fullmetal's suggestion - if windows just errors out during your prime run then something about your setup isn't stable

i'm eliminating the "bad slot" possibility right now, p95 blend on tested good ram on that same slot and going 5.5 hours so far.

atm, i do not have a spare hdd to install windows on and no, i have no been in safe mode. what would i be doing in safe mode relating to stability?

i wouldn't like to run that single DIMM solo in windows because IF it is bad, i don't want it to be corrupting my data in my operating system, i've seen bad ram corrupt operating systems before leading to a full reformat to fix.

I don't think it likes to run at 533MHz.

Either inrease the speed to 800MHz, or tighten the timings to ex. 4-4-4-12 or 3-3-3-10 (or whatever timings are the most common for the PC2 4200 memory).

update: just tested my known good ram setup in that DIMM slot and my windows hung just like before, this time after 8 hours of P95 Blend.

i'm starting to think its the DIMM slot, what other possibilities are there?

Could be board voltage, VTT NB voltage, or a combination of both, may be cpu voltage too.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO READ THIS GUYS:

looks like it might be a bigger problem, here it goes:

i went back to my original 3 x 1gb of good tested ram in 3 good tested slots and ran the same p95 Blend. after some (3+ if that matters) hoours while i was out of the house, windows hangs /hung again. (what i mean by windows hangs is i see video and my desktop and i see the last screen right before it hung, i can tell what time it hung by looking at my system clock on my taskbar which also froze. then i'd have to hard-off my PC to be able to return to my desktop. what can cause this?

REMINDER: all 4 x 1gb of my ram sticks have been tested with Memtest86+ v 2.0 for 12 hours, HCI Memtest for 30 mins each, OCCT Auto for 1 hour, and assumed would pass p95 Blend, but my windows would always hang but i see all Green on the p95 Threads @ the last screen.

here are my BIOS SET voltages for 266 x 9 (CPU back at stock speeds):
DDR2 OverVoltage Control [+0.35] (i can set it to +0.40 but then my BIOS PC health status would say DDR18V = FAIL instead of OK)
PCI-E OverVoltage Control [+0.10]
FSB OverVoltage Control [+0.25]
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.125]
CPU Voltage Control [1.37500]

Misc Settings:
High Speed DRAM DLL Settings: Option 1
5-5-5-18 rest on AUTO
PCI Express Freq = 100
SPD = 2.00
CPU THERMAL MONITOR 2 (TM2) = Enabled
i have some other bios settings changed, let me know what u guys think?

LIST OF POSSIBLE PROBLEMS:
-MB goin bad?
-PSU goin bad? (about 2 years old running 24/7)
-Windows corrupt?
-your answer

When my system froze just like you described running orthos blend and atitool SIMULTANEOUSLY, it was all about CPU voltage. It didn't give me any errors before that either. The system passed running Orthos Blend by itself but paired with some extra, it just froze and I could do nothing else but press reset. So I'm thinking though you've passed an hour of OCCT, it's not pushing your CPU as hard as Prime95. Try it, won't hurt at least.

i had it set at 1.375v to run my Q6600 @ stock speeds.. that same V can be used to run a Q6600 OC'd at 3.2ghz sometimes...

maybe my windows is corrupt... anyone ever have these kinds of problems (in windows; failing stability tests, desktop hanging) but all ram passes Memtest86+ v2.00?

I've had all kinds of problems with a corrupt OS. Try 1 more thing before you throw in the towel and reformat.
Try running 10 passes of Test5 and then back to back run 5 passes of Test8. If it fails test 5, try 1 notch Down on the ram, as it appears you have it kinda high now. If it fails test 8, try swapping ram around in slots, then run the gammit again.

Some say to run Test7 as well, but I always saw that Test8 would catch the same errors as 7 after 4 or 5 passes.

If it passes with no errors, I don't know what to tell you, other then to try a new install, or play with the NB voltage a bit more.
