Hello,

I will move into my new condo this weekend and I was thinking about passing network cables through the walls/floors. How do I do that without destroying the wall/floors? ;-)

Thanks!

Step 1: Drill hole point A
Step 2: Drill hole point B
Step 3: Attach Cable to fish tape
Step 4: Fish cable through hole A
Step 5: Pray that you can get fish tape from point A to point B

This only works if you don't have to go laterally through the wall due to the fact studs will get in the way. The only other thing you can do Is run them in an attic, or if your basement has a false ceiling run them through the floor joists.

You could also cut larger holes in the walls in order to make this process easier but, above are the only ways that I know of without "destroying" the walls.

yup if the basement is unfinished drop it down there then move it up where you need, use attic also

When we were having our house built we snuck in before they had put drywall up to lay down coax + cat5 cable all through the house :)

I agree with going through the basement or attic. I routed my speaker wires through the basement (actually a cellar). Here's a tip. If you have carpet, lift up the edge of the carpet before drilling a hole in the floor. Once you move (or move the cable to a different location), you can just lay the carpet down, and they're won't be any lasting damage.

People, he's moving into a condo!

Unless you have carpet and you can jam the speaker cable below the baseboard, I think you are fucked. one way to reduce cable clutter is to have an area rug under your coffee table, between the entertainment centre and the couch and run the cable to the surround speakers under the rug.
