PartyPoker sites

Last night at a friend's apt he was asking someone if he could use his name and address for a PartyPoker site. Appearantly there is like 3 different sites (all connected to PartyPoker) that give you a free $50 in real money to start with (just once you use your name and address thats it). Only catch is you can't get a check until you play 500 hands.

So I was thinking, why would I give him my name when I could try this myself? I asked him if there was any reason why I shouldnt take the free $50, play as many hands as possible, and dont put any of my own money in there. If nothing else its like playing for play money (just for fun) cause I really doubt I'd make 500 hands and still have any $$ left.

Is this for real? How do I get to those partner sites or whatever that offer the $50?

Do you think they would be making money if they were just giving out free money?

Of course it's not 100% legit.

it's legit, most give away money or a bonus to your first deposit to lure you in. that and they make money at every hand dealt, the rake, and that is a lot of money...

Does anyone know of the site(s) that will do this? It sounded like I didnt need to pay a thing to get that $50. I think just by offering that it'll get word out and a small number of those people will continue playing with their own money.

Me? Eh.. I cant really afford to gamble any real money. I'm no good at poker, but I play a little bit of play money online so I figure this is pretty much the same. Worth a shot I figure. I was like "so theres pretty much no reason I shouldnt do this".."nope"
