So lately, I've been watching a lot of online poker (and playing 😉 ) and the topic comes up a lot on whether or not the partypoker software is fair.
Some people argue that it is programmed in a way to favor the site by giving slightly better cards so more rakes can be generated. Sure, makes sense that partypoker would want to make more money.
Others will say that it is as random as a human dealer or live games, and I can see that also b/c when I play w/ friends, I see the same kinds of hands/patterns as I do online.
I know for partypoker, their software is certified as to assure "randomness", but honestly, can anyone really know for sure unless they go through the code?
Personally, I find that partypoker's software is as random as it gets.Although bigger hands like flushes, fullhouses, 4 of a kinds, etc, have really low odds of coming out, the fact that you play like 20x the amount of hands you would in person makes it reasonable to see more of those big hands. And furthermore, when you play a limit table, people will chase more and see the turn and river more b/c there is some "safety" when playing limit. And I think that a lot of ppl calling PP unfair are basing that only on limit games.
But I can't make any serious conclusions. The only way would be either to a) go through the software code, or b) take all the data of past hands (over 1 billion hands played) and run some statistical analysis experiments to see if there is a significant difference between the software deals and human deals.
Anyone have any better or more insightful explanations?
