party question

lets say your invited to a wedding reception of someone you are not really close with(i,e distant cousin, friend). You dont really want to go, and you dont really have time for the evening.

Is it better to: not go at all, and just send a card/gift later, or is it better to go, say hi, and then leave saying we need to go and sorry we cannot stay any longer?

I personally think that it is better to not go, so we dont get attention, rather then be the one to leave in the middle of a reception. I know some people might who think that it is better to go, so at least they show the hosts that they care.

what do you guys think?

I'd roll through just to say hi and drop a present on them. Do wedding receptions have a firm end time? Haven't been to one in forever.

The question you need to ask yourself is. Will the reception include a) free food b) free booze c) drunk chicks d) all of the above.
