Does anyone know where you can get the components(cases, boards, screens) to build your own notebooks? Have looked but so far have only found the obvious such as drives, modems, nic.

Has to be a site somewhere.

almost can't, you can find parts to build/fix existing notebook but not your own... the mobo is not standard, nothing is standard, every company has a weird shape mobo... i remember there was a company that let you pick and choose but not sure if they're still around...

This is a common query on this board over the years that has yet to get a good response. Note book cases, keyboards, motherboards and the like are designed for compactness and light weight and that demands they be especially built for one application only. All this stuff is built to order for the big companies. The only thing I can suggest is for you to rivet a suitcase handle to your mid-tower and call it portable like they used to do thirty years ago.
