partitions

I am wanting to install linux in an extended partition. The package that I got has a watered down "partition magic" and "boot magic". My system already has an extended partition that I want to put linux on it and create a swap partition w/partition magic. The documentation says it can't partition an extended partition and that you have to delete that partition(E) with fdisk.I know that will wipe out all of the stuff on that (E) partition but, will it wipe out C: as well? MY main hard drive has C: & E:
Thanks!!!
