Partitions Slow The Computer Down !?

Hey yo,
Am i right or wrong? Does having too many partitions make the computer slower?
I once had 5 partitions on a PII-333 and it took like 5mins to empty the recycle bin. I thought this was cos of the slow CPU but i tried the same thing again with a P4-2000 and it slowed down the machine too (obviously not as slow as the 333 but it still took longer than normal to empty the recycle bin).

So my conclusion is: The more the partitions you have, the slower your system will be !

Insufficient evidence to back up your conclusion. What you have concluded is that Windows takes longer to empty the Recycle Bin when there are more partitions, which is logical considering that the Recycle Bin really exists on each partition. You have not proven that Windows is any slower in other tasks.

The only reasons partitions would slow your system down is if you have 2 partitions on the same drive being read/written to at the same time because the drive heads will have to continually move between partitions which will slow both of them down.

Maybe you should change the thread title to read "Windows is slower with more partitions" because I know for a fact no other OS is affected.
