Partitions for linux on already partitioned hd

I reinstalled all my stuff a few months ago. I want to install linux again though.
I have my main drive, c at 10 gig, d at 20, and e at 15 for a 45 gig ibm gxp.

I have partition magic 6, how would I go about making partitions for linux. Should I make them at the end of e:? I have no programs on e, just mp3's so those are movable. Or do I have to make it on c? Which would be the best way to do it, I *dont* want to reinstall.

someone went a little overboard with the posts. i couldnt say their double posts cuz theres more than one time theyre posted. script error?

People ought to really remember to be patient and click once...

abaez, Linux requires a "swap" partition and an "ext2" partition. If you want to dualboot Windows with Linux, you will have to use two partitions located after the Windows partition. Otherwise, just tell Linux to install where ever it wants since you have two partitions all ready 🙂

octuple post! that's gotta be a first.
you can put the linux partitions anywhere you have a few gigs free. If c and d already have OSes, then e seems like the partition to cut up.

ok, partition magic says I can make a new partition after d but before e, and that won't mess with dual booting wont it? I remember when I first installed linux awhile ago lilo only did the first 1024 sectors or something, but I read now it can go way beyond that. Or should I eve use lilo and go with bootmagic (partition magics proggie for dual booting).
