Partitions, Applications, and Setup

I have a 29160 which I have a 9GB U160 HDD on and WinXP Pro. I also have an ATTO SCSI Raid controller with a 34GB X15 screaming fast array. My question is, how do I set this up to put my applications and games on the Raid array to get the best performance? Do I want the array as a Primary partion or as a Logical drive? When installing games and apps, do I just direct it to be installed on the Raid array? Will it then have a shortcut to the application on the XP drive and access the raid array for the data?

Sorry for the newbie type questions, but I have always had one primary partition and I want to get this right.
