Partitionmagic and SATA

Hello all,

My new problem is that I cannot get PartitionMagic 8.0 to work with my SATA WD Raptor drive. I have it hooked to the DFI Lanparty Ultra Rev B motherboard, which picks it up in the RAID BIOS, but from there on out no luck. I'm waiting for a copy of Win XP Pro to arrive in the mail so I can try the boot from cd, hit F6 to load drivers from a diskette thing. I'm wondering if there is any advantage to using partitionmagic, and if so... is there a "manually load drivers" feature to use when I'm booting off the disk so it identifies my hard drive? At the moment, it's only giving a "critical error" or "no drives present" type message. (I am running from the restore diskettes it made, as I do not yet have Windows loaded.)

Thanks!

The PM diskette is running on top of DOS, so it needs DOS SATA drivers loaded (or built in support).

There's no reason why you can't just wait for XP.

I used PM, and now Acronis Partition Expert, but it's moslty to do setups with multiple OSs in multiple primary partitions (hidden from each other) not for a single OS install.
