Partitioning in Vista

I'm trying to extend my Vista partition onto unallocated space on my hard drive. However, the "EXTEND" option is grayed out when I right click on the Vista partition. What on earth is wrong?

Here's a pic

I want the Vista partition to occupy both its current partition AND the unallocated space.

You can only extend the end of the partition, not the beginning of it.

Yeah - for this "in the middle" situation, you'll need to use Partition Magic or something similar. It would then be better to move the Vista partition to the left, and then extend it to the right. The reason for that is the need to have all of the boot files, MBR, etc., on the left edge of the partition, ie., the boot sector.
