Partition resizer program?

I want to give my OS partition more space. I just need something to resize it. Free and proven if that's possible. 🙂

I have an older version. But's having problems making my OS partition bigger. It seems to stop at 46% during file index checking. Was hoping to find a freeware software package that could solve this single problem for me.

Never seen Ranish; it's a non-destructive partition manager, right? I've seen some, but they seemed pointless - they basically would wipe the drive, then re-partition it - you can do that in Windows anyway. I'll keep that page bookmarked though, in case I get a chance again to try something like that out.

I've recently purchased some stuff from Acronis - TrueImage and DiskDirector. TrueImage seems a darn bit better than Norton Ghost - lots more nice features, such as a utility that directly creates a bootable imaging CD. I think Ghost (2003 version anyway) only did bootable floppies. And it imaged both of my hard drives without any issues at all; very easy to use.

ranish is awesome but can't do anything with ntfs partitions

and with say a fat32, it can only shrink down to the last fragment or grow to as big as it was when you first made it (no bigger)

it still is the shiz though

Most motherboards come with a version ghost.
Thats what I use for resizing, does require some free space on either the same disk, or a second disk!

I have used Ranish's Partition manager for years now and it is top notch. It isn't for those who don't know how to read instructions though. It's very powerful and you need to read every word.
