When I set up my RAID and attempted to partition and format with 16k stripes, I was unable to enter the numeric characters to set the partition size. I used both sets of number keys and made sure that num lock was on. I ended up setting up my drives like a server, which I hope has the smaller stripe size.
Any suggestions?? Do you know which type of use corresponds to which stripe? (ie. does server mode have 16k stripe?)

I have a Soyo Dragon Plus with Promise onboard RAID controller using Windows2000 Pro. Twin 30gb Maxtor (rebadged Quantum) UDMA100 hard drives, all new.

Can someone tell me the best way and order to load stuff to get a RAID system fomatted and partitioned under Win2K? Thanks.

I think U need to use backspace key to enter data for the raid, it won't just write
over even though it's highlighted blue. Then boot from 2kcd (set up in bios to do this)
it should see raid as one disk hit c to create partition, continue to select partition to install 2k to.
Then it will ask how U want to format, use ntfs filesystem and it will do the rest.
Remember to set back to boot from HD when U are done. hope this helped. :D

If I understood you correctly, I should be able to enter the numbers by using the backspace first. The situation you described was the way I saw it on screen (highlighted blue, but not overwritten by entering numeric characters).

At what point can I set up 16k stripes and 16k clusters?
