Partition problem on SATA hdd

Ok, I got a 250 gb SATA hdd...

However, in Windows setup, it shows that I have 130 GB of unpartitioned space...

BUT, Where the f*** did my other 120 GB go?

I remember my brother selecting this option "Low level format"... could this be the problem?

Note: This is my first time installing SATA hdd... I'm having no problems getting OS to be installed... but what pissed me off is the 130 gigs of unpartitioned space when im supposed to have 250.
 
If you're using WinXP, and already have a boot drive installed just go to:

Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Disk Management --> then right click on the new SATA drive, and start making your partitions.

Then you can go back and make another boot partition, if you wish to do so.

Edit: You have to have SP1 or SP2 installed for this to work.



 
Windows update -> SP1

IIRC this is an issue with windows not using 48 bit addressing, so it can only see around a max of 137 GB (or something). Supposedly SP1/2 fix this.
