Partition Magig won't convert......

Usul

Golden Member
I'm trying to use Partition magic to convert three NTFS partition in FAT, to restore data ( the full story in my sig link) but it reports an error.
If I try with the partition I was running W2k from, it says that the partition contains Extended informations, and the conversion will destroy those. BTW, what are for?
And if i try with the others, it says that the attribute must be resident, and aborts.
No idea what attribute is it talking about.

Can you help?

Usul--I could be wrong, but, I thought once you go to NTFS there is no going back to FAT....even with PM. However, I seem to remember someone saying that there was a program going around that would let you convert back? Please let me know if I am wrong on this.

Thanks Randy, but that program needs a bounch of files from WINNT dir, and if I can read thos I'm ok with everything else.
PM has an option, convert NTFS in FAT32, but it says that the attribute must be resident.
No vlue what it is all about?

I have 6.0 too.
And there is the same option, but it gives that stupid error.
Should work, but doesn't.
