Partition Magic

Ok, heres the thing. I bought Partition magic to set up my computer for a dual boot. I installed the and made the emergency disks. I then decided to reformat and set up the partitions for a clean install. I got the hardrives partioned like I wanted then and got ready for install. The problem is that now when I boot up it looks for bootmagic in order to boot to me 98se drive. It's gone because I reformatted. I can get it to work with the bootmagic floppy but I have to boot with it. I reinstalled boot magic on 98 but I still can't boot without the floppy. Anybody know what I can do to get it to boot without the stupid floppy in?

Thanks,
fishingeek

what bootmagic does is replace you master boot record (mbr) with bootmagic image that points to you obsolete location.

My suggestion is to run fdisk manually and set whatever is appropriate and make a partition where you have your OS an active partition.

basically you just need to remove bootmagic from your mbr and replace it with something valid.

You've confused a lot of people when you decided to purchase PM but then reformatted! If you will reformat, you do not need PM since you can set your partitions with Fdisk. The only reason you want PM is to set up partitions without losing data which is what Fdisk does. Try Zach's suggestions it should work. Otherwise try uninstalling PM to see if it'll remove that bootware program from the boot sector. Last resort is to zero the HDD or called low level format.

Thanks for the replies guys. I got it working now. I did what zach said and f-disked the harddrives. I also used the emergency PM6 disks to set up the partitions the way I wanted them. I just got done installing both 98se and 2K and everything is working good. Thanks again for the replies.
