Partition Magic / Hard Drive Backup

I created a partition to duplicate (back-up) my system's internal hard drive onto my large external hard drive whenever I chose to do so. Now for some reason when I empty my Recycle Bin on my desktop it gives me an error about not being able to empty the Recycle Bin on the drive that I duplicated the hard drive onto, even though it shouldn't be trying to access that hard drive in the first place. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance...
