Partition Magic Error

I am trying to add a partition to my computer with partition magic. I've tried both 7.0 and 8.0. After I set what I want, it tells me to allow it to restart my comp, so it does. Then it starts up in PM, and I keep getting Error 27 : Cannot Lock Drive.

I did a little research on it, and it seems that the solution to this is to stop all services. So I decided to start my comp in safe mode and try it. After the restart, it starts to work, goes for about 30 secs, and then I get "error 1527 while excuting Batch" "Error 1527: Bad update sequence number"

Does anybody have experience with this problem and knows how to fix it?
 
make sure there are no programs running to the best of your abilities. A sure fire way is to go into msconfig and disable all the startup programs and perhaps some non-microsoft services (DO NOT DISABLE ALL THE SERVICES!!!😛 )

make sure to run chkdsk and refrag your drive before. It might be an issue with a really messy drive.
