Partition Magic 8.0 Problems (HardDrive Locked)

When I re-partitioned my drive and restarted my laptop to have the changes applied I keep getting an error.

Here is my intended configuration:

My current Laptop capacity is 10gb

I have windows xp installed and its occupying 4.5gb currently.

I then decided to create a new partition in the Partition Magic 8.0 program of a size of 4gb etc etc...

So anyways, when I restarted, I kept getting an error that says:


Error 27: Cannot Lock Drive

Why is this happening? Can someone please help me? Thanks.

the drive is currently in use, and PartitionMagic cannot stop all processes concerning that drive so it has single rein over it.

you would be best served by having partitionmagic run at startup (enqueue the partition job, and then there's some option in there to run all that at your next startup). that way nothing is accessing the drive yet.

I avoided this problem by creating a 5gb partition for C:\ when I formatted my HDD for the first time.
