Partition help!!!

I'm trying to help my friend install XP on his machine over the phone. He has 2 hard drive... one is a SCSI drive, and the other is IDE. He is trying to install XP on the scsi drive, but here is the problem:

FDISK is seeing the ide drive as Drive 1 and the SCSI drive as drive 2. Now it won't let the active partition be set on drive 2... only drive 1. So how do you switch drive numbers so that the SCSI drive can be set as drive 1 (and therefore as the active partition)???

Thanks in advance...

1st thing that came to me was to change boot sequence to SCSI first in BIOS......hope that does the trick.

He can also disconnect the ide drive while installing.
BTW you don't have to use fdisk while installing winxp. The installer will partition and format the drive.

ok got it... i think the prob was that he never formatted the drive.

zzzz... yeah but the prob was that winxp wouldn't let him even start the installation on the scsi drive.

thanks guys.
