i don't know what has happened, but suddenly a fat32 partition i have (had?) became (or says it has become) unformatted. i didn't do anything to cause it. is there any way to a) fix it or b) recover data? and no, i don't want to spend money on professional recovery.
i'm pretty sure it's not physical damage because other partitions on the drive were fine.
the only thing i can think of is that i did allow chkdisk to fix some partition table problem a week or so ago. however, i can't remember which partition this was, and i'm 100% sure everything was fine until a couple of hours ago...
