Partions + install questions

If I check under my partitions in Win XP, I have a primary , plus an extended partition, that are surrounded in a green frame.

The question is this, If I move backup and files to my secondary partition and format and reinstall XP on the primary, will I loose my data that is stored on the extended partition?. I know I would not with 2 primary, but with this setup?

If you format and install anyting on your Primary Partition, your extended partition will remain untouched. Just select the correct partition to install too when running setup.
