A decent test of both CPU and GPU, and even better when using both running at the same time is to participate in Distributed Computing projects.

If you are interested in testing your system stability or would like to just try something different and help TeAm AnandTech out in a DC project for a few days in a Team competition there is an opportunity that just started and runs until the end of January . Several teams are participating and Team AnandTech could use some help!

I like to test my systems on a variety of DC projects along with several other testing utilities when I try new over / under clocks on RAM, CPU, and GPU. Sometimes the DC projects find system instability that other testing utilities don't find right away.
