Ok guys I'm having a party next friday and I need music suggestions. I need esp. need suggestions for music you can dance to (i've gotten complaints about this at every other party) but let me know of any songs you think would work. Recommend songs you would want to hear at a party, songs that would make people want to dance, songs that really seemed to get people going.

Thanks

Hell yeah!! nothing like 900watts of Barry Manilow to get the party going :)

I'm not sure if that would make the neighbors call the cops sooner or later

Well, I found a lot of "dance" mixes for popular rap songs that I have. I hate Rap myself, but it's what I give to my friends when they want dance. I listen to a lot of Trance stuff myself.

I'm trying to think of any good DJ Mixes that would do the trick, it would save YOU lots of time. I guess it depends on what your friends like.

What did you play at the party last time, that bombed soo badly?

Is this a joke? Trance obviously. Download some livesets by Armin van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, DJ Tiesto, etc. Armin's sets from Club Eau are particularly good. Or just get a subscription to www.di.fm and tune into the trance channel, then alternate between that, hard trance (for the boys), vocal trance (for the girls), then maybe a little goa towards the end, when everyone's nice and wasted ;) You could try some euro around that time as well!

"Great Wall" by oakenfold just came out, it's really good with hits people can hum along to, madonna, etc. Nobody beats oakenfold for mainstream classy goodness.

I don't remember exactly, it was a lot of rap but I was told that it wasn't the kind of rap you could dance to and the playlist was tossed out after 2 songs.

Why are you playing rap anyway? Are you black and/or 14 years old?

Can't go wrong with Nas and Jigga. At least, that's what I say. Trick Daddy is probably better for dancing. Afroman's another good one. I'm always partial to Ludacris as well.
You know what? How bout I just come over to your party and DJ for you? That'll simplify things ;)

Wow, I'm sensing a lot of hatred of rap in your posts. were you beaten by a rap artist as child?

Edit: Before you start flaming me, that was a joke.

No Rap. As was stated before, find some good mixes by Oakie, or Van Buren. Ummm....I can't think of any right now off the top of my head that will appeal to the masses. Maybe Tiesto's Magik 6? Not sure, have to look at the playlist of that again.

I definitely reccomend Vocal Trance for people that aren't really into it. Seems to appeal to a lot of people.

Oh yeah, No Rap.

Edit: Oh yeah, I have some good dance mixes of songs by Nelly, 50 Cent, etc. These mixes seemed more "danceable". If you have any outlets, search for these kinds of songs maybe?

Rap died with 2Pac. Today's artists are jokers posing as gangsters. And besides, you can't dance to rap. That's R&B or reggae you're reffering to. Learn the difference.
