I've been away from OT for the last couple of days due to a medical condition. When I return full time next week I will deal with these idiots and anybody else who's taken it upon themselves to muck up OT with their childishness and stupidity. Some members just might find themselves on a Summer's vacation away from Anandtech!
 
I totally agree....while i DID create the FIRST parody...it was in good fun and highly apprieciated! I also made sure to post good advice in Tomato;s thread as well...so its not like i was ignoring that. The others simply spun out of control 🙁
 
It's Friday, the mods are away, and the mice want to play. However, as seen in the past, the mods will hand down vacations as needed.

seriously, minus, I think All I've ever seen you post is complaints about parody threads...why don't you change things by starting one of those wonderful insightful threads that are being decimated by the parody-ers, hmmm?

I guess I'm too new here to understand why parody is a bad thing? A thread is a thread. Right? What does it matter if it is a parody thread or the eleventy billionth YAGT?

I never said that....I said that my thread was in good taste IMO...where as others (read: I fsked this chick (a member of the forums) in the bathroom) just took it too far

Again, what you did is different how exactly? Parody is parody correct? So if parody is bad then anyone posting a parody thread, no matter its content, is subject to ban. Right? Or do you get to play by special rules?

Like I said, I am fairly new here but I don't see what the problem with a parody thread is. I would much rather read something funny than one of the seeminly endless YAGT or "should I buy this" threads.

honestly, it's not something that bothered me until recently. I agree that there's a lot of crap in OT but it's all original crap. One stupid thread is easy enough to ignore but five or ten on the same topic? I'll admit that every single post I make isn't going to better mankind (hell, I venture into P&N every once in a while, and we all know nothing productive comes out of there), but this is a little absurd.
Once nothing comes of this thread (again) I'll probably just drop it, because apparently I'm in the minority and if that's the case then so be it.
 
i for one like parody threads. some are funny, some hit and some miss. it's all in just stupid fun we are looking for in OT. i understand how people got annoyed by eleventy billion of them but if there is a poll, i vote for keeping them

Nothing. Up until the 'nef fest' bans, I don't recall a parody thread being the cause of a ban.

IMHO, they ARE an important part of the AT culture, and one that is not all that common elsewhere. Definitely part of what makes AT 'fun'
