Parking ticket question...

Damnit... got a parking ticket today morning...
I had parked my car overnight on the street and when i got to the car today morning, there is a ticket on the car saying that the car requires a parking permit to park from 2AM to 6AM. WTF?

There is no board or display anywhere which shows that you need a permit to park there from 2AM - 6AM. Should i contest the ticket? I got fined $15.

Edit : I am in white plains, NY if that changes anything..

Take pictures along the side of the street that the vehicle was on, from one main street to another to show that there is no sign.

Then you can contest it.

i guess it depends on how much your time is worth

writing letters/contesting it might take 1 or 2 or 5 hours?

i would pay it and park somewhere else

I hate those local rules in cities about street parking at night. You goto a friends house for a game of poker or something, leave at like 2am, and you find a ticket, only later to find out that in order to park on the street , you need a permit from the city.

Like Alhambra, CA. You need some decal in your window to park on the street at night. It is free, but limited to 2 per household or something lame like that. They do give guest permits, but you have to goto the police department everytime you want one. Parking tickets == easy money.

Who does the ticket say to send payment too? And is the ticket "official looking"?

Whatever floats your boat. I am married, two kids and work very full time, so my personal time is very valuable. $15 is nowhere close to worth it for me.

15 dollars is the cheapest ticket that I've ever heard of. Pay it. To prep for court will cost you more than that.
